Ambitions

The Shadow Archive has been collaborating with a web developer and web designer to build and design a dedicated website and content management system. At present, the project lacks the necessary funds to build the site and so the archive will not immediately be accessible via a public platform. However, every space collected and catalogued will be digitally archived according to archival standards and the collection will be available to view by application.

Eventually, each art space in the archive will have a dedicated webpage on the site where its collection of subjective and objective metadata and archival objects will be visible (see ‘Archival Procedures and Policies‘). It will also be possible to filter and search the collection to explore connections between different spaces and to begin to map out the extent of artist-led activity across the world. The website will also feature a gallery page where guest curators will be invited to explore the archive and curate online exhibitions of from the catalogue.

The ambition is a publicly accessible, fully functioning archive of self-organised art spaces across the globe that will build and enable an international network of artists, spaces and ideas.
